Press release - Opening 2nd Amputee Care Center (ACC) at brand new Medical Center in Brussels

Spronken Orthopaedics opens Amputee Care Center (ACC) at brand new Medical Center in Brussels

After the great success of the first unique Amputee Care Centre that opened in Genk in March this year, a second centre for prosthesis patients will open in the brand-new Medical Center in Glaverbel, Brussels, from October 2023!

From her years of experience as a prosthesis maker, Spronken will also work there in multidisciplinary cooperation with surgeons, rehabilitation doctors, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, general practitioners, nurses, nutritionists and sports coaches.

The unique care path offered by the ACC looks at the person as a whole, provides multidisciplinary care tailored to his or her needs, offers access to the latest innovative techniques and works with a scientifically based approach in order to achieve the best end result for the prosthetic user, both the newly amputated patient and the existing prosthetic user.

Spronken believes that this total care for prosthesis wearers can break down barriers, shift boundaries, fuel change and contribute to creating an equal future for amputee patients.

Open to Second Opinions

In addition to tailored customised care for new amputees, people who have had a prosthesis for some time are also welcome at the ACC.
The ACC offers advice for existing prosthesis wearers with questions or who want to optimise their prosthesis use

Walking again in 7 weeks after amputation

The ACC's prosthetists start counselling the patient even before surgery. They assist the surgical and nursing team with care in hospital and at home. Once the stump is healed, a full prosthesis can be quickly fitted and made at the Amputee Care Centre, thanks to the specialised prosthetic workshop annex . Then the rehabilitation process begins together with the patient's rehabilitation doctor and physiotherapist. Most people walk completely independently after 7 weeks.

New leg prosthesis in one day

Fitting and making a complete leg prosthesis in one day, in one visit , it is possible at the ACC.

Innovative high-tech prostheses

The ACC makes prostheses for young and old, for people with diabetes to Olympic athletes. Spronken invested in a 3D printing lab to make innovative customised arm and leg prostheses. For the latest technology in bionic feet and hands, they collaborate with local and international manufacturers of high-tech prosthetic parts.

Glaverbel medical centre

The brand-new medical centre bundles several discplines under one roof. Together with Lieven Maesschalck of Move to Cure and Orthoca, Spronken orthopaedics welcomes customers in a green wooded setting at the iconic Glaverbel building.

International appeal

Spronken is a recognised supplier, to mutual health organisations and health insurers, in Belgium and the Netherlands, but they also have an international reputation beyond the borders of the BeNeLux. Spronken works with numerous amputation surgeons and rehabilitation centres. The new location in Brussels facilitates access for an international audience.

You are welcome, by appointment.
