NextGen Orthopaedics improves aids for people with neurological disorders
A neurological condition such as a stroke, cerebral haemorrhage, cerebral palsy, hemiplegia, MS, Parkinson's disease, ALS or a muscle disease can suddenly make walking or standing much more energy-intensive. What once came naturally now requires conscious effort and considerable perseverance.
At Spronken Orthopaedics, we have been working for more than 65 years on solutions that help people remain as independent and comfortable as possible. Today, we do this based on a clear vision: NextGen Orthopaedics. No standard aids, but precision customisation, developed from in-depth insight, technical analyses, new materials and data- and AI-driven innovation.
Would you like to know what is technically possible today? You are welcome to come in for a no-obligation consultation.
Why neurological disorders have such a significant impact
Our bodies function thanks to the precise interaction between the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Neurological disorders disrupt this interaction. Muscles tense at the wrong moment, reflexes take control or strength is distributed unevenly. The body compensates, often without you being aware of it.
These compensations cause instability and fatigue, even during simple activities. This can affect children's development and limit adults' daily lives. That is precisely why the right support is essential.
Orthoses as support for efficient movement
The purpose of an orthopaedic brace or corset is always to allow movement to occur as naturally as possible and to limit energy loss.
At Spronken Orthopaedics, we have a specialised department for adults and children with neurological disorders. At the Neuro Care Center, we design neurological orthoses based on analysis and insight into individual movement patterns. Modern techniques such as digital measurements, AI-supported design and analysis tools, 3D printing and ultra-light materials make it possible to tailor orthoses, sitting, standing and walking aids much more precisely than in the past. Our focus is on precision customisation, but also on fast delivery. This is very important for people who want to regain their mobility quickly or for whom waiting is not an option. Faster delivery means being able to start corrective or preventive treatment, or exercise, sooner. Quality is always paramount.
Our team of more than 135 passionate orthopaedic technologists, dispensers, prosthetists and technicians work together every day to create solutions that are technically sound and reliable in everyday use.

Focus on excellent service at NextGen Orthopaedics
At Spronken NextGen Orthopaedics, we believe that care goes beyond supplying a brace, splint, orthosis or aid. Technology and customisation are important, but it is only in combination with accessible, personal service that they really make a difference. That is why the patient is always at the heart of everything we do.
Our services are accessible and customer-focused. Orthoses and prostheses can be fitted at one of our fitting locations or at your residential centre, so that having your medical device fitted and adjusted does not place any additional strain on you. We often visit bedridden patients at home. This ensures that support remains accessible, even when movement is not so easy.
In addition, we work in a multidisciplinary team at NextGen Orthopaedics. Orthopaedic technology never stands alone. We coordinate our care with doctors, therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists and coaches and look beyond just physical functioning. Mental resilience and guidance also play an important role in the overall process.
Pioneer in the Benelux
With measurement locations in Belgium and the Netherlands, and its Benelux headquarters in Genk, Spronken is always close by. This extensive network makes it possible to respond quickly and organise care personally, regardless of where you are. Short waiting times mean that you are back on your feet faster, often literally!
The process does not stop after delivery. Aftercare is an essential part of NextGen Orthopaedics. That is why we are available 24/7, 365 days a year for questions or problems with essential aids. This continuity provides certainty and confidence, exactly what is needed when using life-changing neurological aids.
Measurement as the foundation of NextGen Orthopaedics
Next-Gen stands for “new generation” orthopaedics, data-driven, lightweight materials, innovative techniques created with AI (Artificial Intelligence). With NextGen Orthopaedics, measurement goes beyond the treatment room. In more and more cases, we use orthoses and prostheses with app integration and real-time movement monitoring. This gives us insight into how your prosthesis or orthosis functions in daily life, not just during muscle strength and gait pattern measurements in our biomechanical analysis laboratory.
Computer-controlled analyses and data enable faster and more targeted adjustments, leading to better results and greater comfort. This makes optimisation a continuous process, tailored to how someone really moves. What does that mean in practice? Faster adjustments and a solution that fits better and better. We make it possible.
Solutions for children and adults
Neurological aids require precision customisation, regardless of age. For children, the focus is on growth and natural development. For adults, the focus is on independence and a good quality of life. In both cases, it is important that solutions grow with the situation and can be adapted as the body changes. By not only designing aids, but also continuing to optimise them, we create support that remains comfortable and functional in the long term.
Sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices at NextGen Orthopaedics
Sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices are core values within the Spronken Group companies and form an important part of NextGen Orthopaedics. We believe that orthopaedic care should not only focus on improving mobility today, but also bear responsibility for the world of tomorrow.
That is why we make conscious choices in materials and production processes. Where possible, we work with environmentally friendly, biodegradable and recycled components in our orthoses and aids. Through the use of 3D digital scanning and advanced 3D printing techniques, waste in our production processes has been reduced by approximately 90 per cent. This makes custom orthopaedics not only more precise, but also significantly more sustainable.
Our focus on quality and sustainability is supported by ISO 13485 certification. This quality label for medical devices guarantees that our custom-made shoes, insoles, orthotics, prosthetics and mobility aids meet the highest safety and quality standards. At the same time, we continue to actively invest in greener production processes and future-proof innovations in medical devices.

Working together to improve mobility
A prosthesis, orthosis or aid is never an end goal, but part of a process. The right analysis and guidance lead to greater freedom of movement and confidence.
